A Collector Is Born

When my husband was researching his first watch I thought it was great that he was going to get a new timepiece. He finally found one that he really liked and it looked great on him. I started to notice him viewing watch shows on the shopping networks (they have those?). I was like OK, no big deal, he is just looking and how good could these watches be?  I had no clue. I have one watch and why would I ever need another one. Next thing I knew he purchased another one and it was from some shopping network. I thought OK so now he has two watches.

Seeing how excited my husband was, I really did not mind. Hey, why should I mind if it is something that makes him happy? As the months went by, I found myself starting to watch some of these watch shows with him. Actually I found myself saying “That is a nice watch, do you want it? Hey go ahead and order it.” At that time, he had passed any offer I made.

As time went on I found myself waking up at odd hours of the early mornings only to see my husband wide awake watching more watch shows. I wondered what the obsession for watches was? I was too tired to think about it, so what did I do? I rolled over, put the pillow over my head, and went back to sleep. One day I woke up and something hit me, my husband is totally addicted to collecting watches.

It was only after a few watches were purchased that I started to gain interest in them too. Now I am following in his steps by staying up and watching the shopping networks, browsing the stores in the mall and researching brands. Once I thought that one watch was enough and now I continue to look for more. I can now understand this addiction.

A collector was born. No wait: TWO were born!

With a name like the Flying C1000, you'd think the latest technical marvel from those masters of budget innovation in China might be a knock-off Harley or perhaps a stab at a hovercar, but the pleasant surprise is that it's actually a GSM wristwatch phone.

The tiny marvel, to be handled in China by storied distributor iMobile, is currently unpriced and is yet to go on sale there, but is sure to be a hit when it does. It's not clear what OS the C1000 uses - we'd put money on it being some kind of Linux - to power its PDA functions, media players, Bluetooth, camera and touch-sensitive color display.

Recipe of the Month

Mozzarella Chicken (Sauce recipe below)

- 6-8 boneless skinless chicken breast (or - 2-1/2 lbs. broiler fryer chickens)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 (16oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 tsp. paprika

Dip chicken in egg and then in bread crumbs. Heat margarine in a large skillet and brown chicken on both sides over a medium heat. Add tomato sauce and basil. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes (until done). Prepare mozzarella sauce. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Arrange chicken in a 13 by 9 baking dish (spray with non-stick spray). Pour
the mozzarella sauce over the chicken, top with cheese and paprika. Bake until cheese has melted and is bubbly. Serve over pasta.

Mozzarella Sauce

- 1 tblsp. margarine
- 1 tblsp flour
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper (or more for a spicier kick)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Melt margarine in small saucepan. Add flour and red pepper; stir until it forms a ball (or is a very thick paste). Add broth and half-and-half. Heat to boil; stirring constantly, add cheese and mix until it has melted.
